Did you know that Montana is home to more than 120 golf courses? Indeed we are and some of the best are located right here in Billings. This week we feature three of our gorgeous private country clubs and next week we’ll take a look at some of the public courses.
If you’re looking for a club that is pure golf, The Briarwood may be worth a look. While it offers few of the distractions of other area county clubs, the 18-hole championship course packs a wallop when it comes to scenery. The par three 16th hole is their signature hole, “with an elevation drop of over 120 feet from tee-to-green.
The club also offers several forms of membership, from the Proprietary Resident membership, with full use of all of the club’s facilities to the Business, Single, Young Professional and Elite Social Memberships. You can learn more about these on The Briarwood’s website.
The Black Bunker Bar and Grill is far more than just the basic 19th hole sandwich and cocktail lounge. With views of Downtown Billings from the outside patio, the dining room offers an array of tasty treats, including brunch on the weekends.
Twice voted the number one golf course in the state, The Briarwood course features 7,010 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72.
To live along the lush fairways of Briarwood, look for homes for sale on Castle Pines Dr., Turnberry Cir., Troon Cir. And Donegal Ct. Yellowstone Country Club
When folks think of moving to Billings, one of the first things they learn about are the rims. When they learn that they can not only live near our picturesque rimrocks but play golf under them as well, they’re sold. The golf club, by the way, is the Yellowstone Country Club, a private club that offers several forms of membership.
If you’re seeking more than golf in a private club, you’ll love The Yellowstone. By the end of this year or early 2018, they’ll have brand-new tennis courts and they are putting more than $11 million into other improvements, including the swimming pool, a new clubhouse and more.
The Yellowstone Country Club dates back to 1914 and offers the 18-hole “Yellowstone” course, featuring 7,121 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72
As for where to live near the country club, you must check out Yellowstone Country Club Estates, adjacent to the country club. Here you’ll find both older and newer homes, a 4.2-acre community park and bike path with access to the the Billings Bike & Walking Trail system.
There is currently only one home for sale in Yellowstone Club Estates, priced at $299,900, but you can learn more about the area by clicking here.
Hilands Golf Club
Dating back to 1922 (with a bit of a facelift four years ago), Hiland Golf Club’s course began life with six holes. Today, it’s a 9-hole course with the capability for 18. Membership options include a social membership which allows the member access to the pool (including the kiddie pool) and the clubhouse.
Hilands offers 3,041 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 35. Check out Hilands’ membership options here.
Living close by has its perks, as homes are within close proximity to downtown and MSU. And, speaking of homes, you’ll find some on the golf course along Azalea Ln., Delphinium Dr. and 7th St. W. Prices range from the low $300,000s to more than $1 million.
Of course private country clubs aren’t the only places to play golf in Billings. Many of the public courses also offer golf course homes at attractive prices. We’ll take a look at some of those in the weeks to come.
