    With the Kentucky Derby, Mother’s Day, Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day coming up, it’s going to be a busy May in Billings. Wow. . .barely any time to work. Oh, darn.

    May 5

    Art Walk and Jam at the Yam

    The Yellowstone Art Museum has three new exhibitions and they’d love for you to come view them during the ArtWalk. You can enjoy live music, a cash bar and light hors d’ oeuvres.     Funky Bunch

    For its 15th year, the NOVA Center for the Performing Arts brings us Funky Bunch, the center’s high school improv group. Get details online, here.

     

    May 5 and 6

    Princess Days at ZOOMONTANA

    Bring the kids (both princes and princesses) to ZooMontana for two days of fun. They can meet the princesses from Ever After Events, participate in a scavenger hunt and win prizes. Food will be available. Learn more online at zoomontana.org.

    Rimrock Rover Rambler

    Let’s help end pet overpopulation and the euthanasia every year of millions of unwanted dogs and cats. Join the 5K run/walk or 1.5-mile dog walk to raise money for the Rimrock Humane Society’s Community Spay/Neuter program.     Run for Life

    Another run happening the same day, the Run for Life (5K 10K and Mile Walk) raises money for the American Cancer Society of Yellowstone County. Sign up online, here.

     

    Running for Roses and Mint Juleps

    Watch the Kentucky Derby, live from Churchill Downs and do dress for it. Ladies wearing their finest hats receive their first mint julep free. The fun starts at 12:30 p.m. although the Derby doesn’t post until 4:34 p.m. It’s happening at the Squire Lounge and you can learn more online, here.

     

    Canyon Creek Spring Ensemble Concert

    Catch “From Folk to Baroque” at 3 p.m. today at American Lutheran Church (5 Lewis Ave. in Billings). It’s free and there will be a reception afterward.

    Stetsons and Stilettos

    Get out your fanciest duds and plan on attending Stetsons and Stilettos 2017, the annual fundraiser for the NILE Foundation.     Montana Classic Car Auction

    MetraPark Expo Center is the scene for the Montana Classic Car Auction, one of the largest classic car events in the Northern Rockies.     Chefs on Parade

    We love this idea! Today you’ll have a chance to tour five homes and each one will be hosting one of Billings’ top chefs. Meet the builder as well as the chef and sample some amazing cuisine. You’ll even get to vote for the Best Chef on Parade. Plus, your ticket to the Chefs on Parade comes with a Fall Parade of Homes ticket, which will be mailed to you in September.

    Showcase of Homes

    Pay only $5 and you can tour 15 new construction homes, courtesy of the Home Builders Association of Billings.     Run for Heaven’s Sake

    Billings residents have their pick of several really good runs this month and one of them is RUN for Heaven’s Sake. This 5k, 10k & half marathon event takes place on the west end of Billings and all proceeds will benefit the Ramsey Keller Memorial (they pay for infant funerals in Montana). Want to know more?     Warrior Wishes Fun Run

    What better way to celebrate Armed Forces Day (although it happened last week) than by entering a fun run to benefit disable veterans across the state? You can participate in a 1 mile, 5K and 10K run in this Yellowstone Rimrunners-sponsored event. Learn more here.
